On 9th July local and regional politicians together with press and media were invited to attend the „topping out‟ of Stölzle-Union‟s new amber furnace at Hermanova Hut, the Czech production site of the Stölzle Glass group. Owner Dr. Cornelius Grupp, together with Group CEO Johannes Schick, had the honour of inserting the final stone of the furnace into place. After a solemn consecration of the furnace by the local priest, all the guests were invited to a buffet of local specialties. "Completing a rebuild of this scale within six and a half months was an immense challenge", said Dr. Grupp.
A key element of the reconstruction was the building of a new state-of-the-art regenerative amber furnace with very low energy consumption and optimized NoX values. Fitting the latest dust filters allows the furnace to come significantly below statutory maximum thresholds. With the reconstruction of the Stölzle-Union Glass factory, the opportunity was taken to expand the whole production site through the acquisition of adjacent land and to enhance production capacity with two additional lines.
On 27th July, after having completed all preliminary fitting and adjustments, production started with the first four lines. Full production capacity with six lines is planned to be available by autumn 2010 at the latest when final tuning of IS –machines and the installation of the additional two lines will be completed. Through GMP and ISO certification, laminar flow technology and enhanced production and sorting capacity, Stölzle-Union has been transformed into a model pharmaceutical bottle plant that meets the highest standards.
Stölzle-Union is part of the renowned Glass Group with its company headquarters, Stölzle-Oberglas, situated in Austria.
