More than 50 years ago, a bakery entrepreneur in Chicago sold marvellous bread and cakes which became such a success that he decided to name his new line of cheesecakes after his daughter, Sara Lee. This was the foundation of a global business manufacturing and marketing high-quality, brand-name products for consumers throughout the world: the Sara Lee Corporation.
One of the most renowned brands of Sara Lee is definitely Douwe Egberts, which was founded in 1753 as a small shop in the Netherlands selling coffee, tea and tobacco to the neighbourhood. In the early 1960s Douwe Egbert created the brand name MOCCONA for their instant coffee and launched the product in Australia. Initially it was sold only in delicatessens and speciality outlets where it was presented in a reusable glass storage jar with a gold plastic cap.
20 years ago MOCCONA decided to rely completely on the environmentally friendly material glass and started to use for all its jars high-quality glass lids supplied by the Stölzle Glass Group.
