Opal Glass

Opal glass is the term used for opaque white glass. This special type of glass can be manufactured using two different methods:

1. Opal glass

Pure opal glass is an opaque glass with a slightly matt surface. When producing larger articles, pure opal glass can become misty.

2. Layered opal glass

Layered opal glass consists of 3 layers. The middle layer of white opal glass is enclosed by clear glass, inside and out. The effect is to product a shiny surface and regular appearance. In Bärnbach we create almost exclusively high quality layered opal glass: pure opal glass can, however, be produced on demand.
